I’ve written here on the blog several times about breaking up with my “co-founder” recently, and just wanted to share an update. All of my future entrepreneurial and software related projects will continue on under the new name ‘Daemonic Software Co.’ — a sole proprietorship. In January 2017, I actually began my entrepreneurial journey as a sole proprietor. Then I made a mistake forming a Delaware C-Corporation, PublishingHau Inc., which ended up costing thousands of dollars in legal and administrative fees, nearly bringing everything to a hault. Fast forward to 2018 and my friend and I form the Bohemian Software Co. (a general partnership), which I then leave/dissolve to continue operating as a sole proprietor again. For a month or so I chose to operate under the assumed business name Maniacal Software Co., but I think I like the name ‘Daemonic’ better so that’s what I’m going to go with.
Anyway, I just wanted to document here on the blog the evolution of my startup’s business structure and name. The reason I’ve bothered to write about this here is just in case my entrepreneurial endeavors turn out to be a successful. Obviously if nothing I create ends up amounting to anything, no one is going to care about the history of my startup’s name, the history of its business structure, or this blog in general. But so far things are looking promising; I just think this is all going to take a much longer amount of time than I originally envisioned. At this point, I believe it may take as many as 10 years of building and launching web and mobile apps before I hit on something big. But hey… if it were easy, everyone would do it.
